Malcolm learns that neighborhood gun violence caused two friends, Brandon and Marcus, to go to heaven. This riveting tale provides a close look at America's most challenged communities and the role of parents and local leaders determined to create a safe environment for the next generation. As the story ends, Malcolm, an energetic activist, embraces the power of collective change.

Dr. Veronica Appleton, PhD

Dr. Veronica Appleton, Ph.D. is a DE&I executive, scholar, and children’s author. She's the writer of Journey to Appleville and Tu-Tu Goes to School, which are two books part of the Appleville Book Series. Her work has been recognized by Campaign US, CBS Chicago, Crain’s Business, Dolly Parton Imagination Library/Open Books, FOX News, WGN Chicago and Diversity Journal’s Top Professionals in Higher Education.
